How did I come to Crete?
I have always loved travelling, and in the 1990s I discovered the Greek islands and Crete. The seductive allure of the rugged landscapes, the azure seas and the vibrant colours of the natural landscape all drew me in, as they have many people before. I was also captivated by the tolerance and friendliness of the locals, who would offer me their hospitality when they saw me hiking or biking around the island, in exchange for some small talk.
In 2006, my partner and I decided to make a new start here, choosing a beautiful destination which was not too isolated. I officially opened my surgery in July 2008 in Damnoni, just down the road from the mountain village of Mirthios, and up the road from the holiday resort of Plakias. I am fascinated by the varying nature of the seasons and the different people who live here, whether they are Greek or emigrants such as myself. In winter, when it's very quiet here, I work 6-8 weeks in Germany in hospitals there.
My surgery here is a real challenge, and I hope that it will grow in the coming years.
I love hiking and exploring the nature of Crete, getting to know the Cretans and their language. I have two dogs and we love going on adventures and hiking with them! I also enjoy reading and dancing.
A saying I like
